Weather Terms for Heat
The rainy season is over and scorching hot days continue every day.
For today, we will be sharing with you some weather terms that we use to describe the heat on a summer day.
夏日NATSUBI
When the maximum temperature of the day is 25 degrees or higher.
真夏日MANATSUBI
When the maximum temperature of the day is 30 degrees or higher.
猛暑日 MOUSHOBI
When the maximum temperature of the day is 35 degrees or higher.
熱帯夜 NETTAIYA
When the minimum temperature at night is 25 degrees or higher
These are just some of the weather terms here in Japan, but there are many other terms used to describe intense or rather extreme heat.
炎暑 ENSHO、酷暑 KOKUSHO 、極暑 GOKUSHO 、厳暑 GENSHO、大暑 TAISHO、盛暑 SEISHO………to name a few
