HINAMATSURI
HINAMATSURI—Doll’s Day/Girls’ Day in English, is a celebration held on March 3rd for the happiness and growth of girls. Other terms that are also known are Peach Festival and/or Kamimi Festival.
Hina dolls are said to protect girls from illnesses and accidents. People usually decorate the dolls with a wish in mind so that the girl can be healthy and happy.
On the day of the Hinamatsuri, peach blossoms and rape blossoms are in bloom and Hishi Mochi, Hina Arare, Chirashizushi, Hamaguri soup, Amazake, Sakura Mochi are eaten to celebrate.
