WHAT IS ISMART?

Greetings!
Today we will be talking about ISMART.

“ISMART” is an acronym for 6 universities.
Until now, “MARCH” was a popular university group for examinees.
However recently, taking into account the ability, popularity and potential of these schools, this group called “ISMART” is also gaining attention from people who are aiming to get into prestigious schools here in Japan.

I stands for International Christian University (ICU)
S stands for Sophia University
M stands for Meiji University
A stands for Aoyama Gakuin University
R stands for Rikkyo University
T stands for Tokyo University of Science

Some people might have thought that since in Japanese, ICU starts with a K as it is called 国際基督教大学 (Kokusai Kirisutokyo Daigaku). However, they have decided to go with the English name instead hence the “I” being the acronym for International Christian University.
The same situation applies for Sophia University, which is 上智大学 (Jochi Daigaku) in Japanese. Both of these international schools are known for teaching English and other foreign languages.

ISMART has multiple departments and faculties、and each school has a well-known
“signboard” which includes information about tradition, achievements, and also representatives of the university. These said signboards are made official not by the university itself but acknowledged globally— as a recommendation for people who consider getting into universities in Japan. The said signboard varies by university, so we recommend to thoroughly check each school and its departments for you to widen your options and broaden your knowledge with regards to choosing your educational path.
